Hobbies

Besides programming, I enjoy a multitude of other hobbies.

Some of my hobbies include Taekwondo, 3D printing, origami, chess, Model UN and playing the piano. Click the dropdowns to learn more!

  • Taekwondo

I started practising Taekwondo since I was 5 years old. Taekwondo taught me courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit. This helped push me towards achieving higher belt ranks quickly, allowing me to gain a black belt in just 5 years.

  • 3D Printing

I started gaining an interest in 3D printing about a year ago. I was getting into tech design and learning how to use a 3D printer sparked some interest in me. From models to tools, I enjoy designing and making 3D prints as there is always something new to learn. I took in interest in design, mechanical engineering and incorporated it into a few projects of my own.

  • Origami

One of my favourite hobbies is origami. I enjoy making origami as it boosts my creativity and enhances my patience and persistence. Not only is it a prestigious art form, it also helps with motor skills and supports mental concentration. I have made a lot of origami models ranging in a variety of themes from modularity to realism.

  • Chess

I started playing competitive chess when I was 10. I always was intrigued by the sport because of the many combinations and strategies a player could use.. Chess taught me to be patient, strategize, and think critically.

  • Model UN

I previously had experience in British Parliamentary Debate, so I decided that Model UN was a great next step. Model UN is an interesting form of debate as you talk about the different standpoints of countries and you have to justify your reasoning. Model UN is quite similar to real UN assemblies and I learned about the geopolitical and international relations of different countries from this experience. I am currently the secretary general at my school's Model UN club.

  • Piano

I have been playing the piano since the age of nine. Currently, I am in RCM Level 8. Piano is a great instrument as it improves hand-eye coordination as well as dexterity. Playing the piano has helped improve my echoic memory, build good habits such as focus and perseverance, diligence, and creativity.
